Celebrating innovation and achievement in a year of adversity
We want to celebrate all that’s good about sport and active recreation – let’s look beyond just winning and celebrate the sporting moments, the partnerships, the outside the box thinkers, and those who do amazing things in our communities to keep us all active.
Community Connection Award:
Celebrating Individuals or organisations that have made a significant contribution to connecting communities through sport and active recreation in a time of adversity, as a result of any initiative they have created and undertaken. How has your sport or recreation organisation sustained your offering – e.g. reshaped and offered online, done things differently, created something completely new, or supported the building of resilience during what has been a difficult time (could include, but not limited to COVID-19)?
Sport & Active Recreation Partnership Award:
Celebrating collaboration and the coming together of key organisations to leverage outcomes for the betterment of sport and recreation opportunities and experiences. This award is for councils, community, sport or recreation organisations, iwi, schools or any other organisations who have partnered with others to provide sport and active recreation opportunities to their communities.
Outstanding Active Space Initiative:
This award celebrates the unique use of spaces, places and facilities in ways that support increased participation in sport and recreation. This is an initiative or project using a local space - for example, parks and open spaces, community halls and facilities, playgrounds, waterways, gullies or school spaces, and it focuses on a celebration of the ways that sport, active recreation and play spaces can be created anywhere!
Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion Award:
Awarded to an innovative initiative that supports diversity and inclusion in sport and active recreation by increasing access, participation, leadership opportunities, community connection and inclusion for ethnic minority groups, disability, women and girls, cultural and religious groups.
Service to Sport:
Individual nominees from the sport and active recreation sector who have completed 20 years of service in their chosen field(s).
People's Choice Awards
People's Choice Sportsperson:
Nominate your favourite all-round sportsperson – not only for achievement in their chosen sport but also for their commitment to their community, their support of special projects or contribution of voluntary time, humbleness etc.
People's Choice Sporting & Active Recreation Moment:
Show us your favourite sporting and active recreation moment video or photo. We want to see those moments that make you ‘proud’ – not necessarily focused on winning, but having fun, effort, improvement, supporting teammates or the opposition, fair play and enjoyment of the activity.
